Taco Bell's Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco Is Off the Menu After About Two Weeks — No End Date Was Ever Announced

Taco Bell's September 1 announcement covers two separate items, sold in two different places.

The Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco is the nationwide one. Taco Bell describes it as a crispy waffle cone shell filled with a new churro ice cream, covered with puffed rice and a dark chocolate-flavored coating. The company lists a suggested price of $3.99 and marks it available at participating locations while supplies last, at the front counter, kiosk or drive-thru, with a limit of five per order.

The Salt & Straw Choco-Waffle Chiller is not nationwide. Taco Bell describes it as a vanilla ice cream base blended with churro crumbles and waffle cone pieces, encased in a crackable chocolatey shell and topped with whipped cream and more waffle cone pieces. It starts at $4.69 and is sold only at Live Más Café locations, which the announcement places in California, Las Vegas, Houston and Dallas — Nevada and Texas alongside California in the footnote's own wording.

The two prices are Taco Bell's own suggested figures. The announcement's footnotes say to contact the restaurant for prices and participation, so what a given store charges may differ.

Taco Bell's own menu no longer lists the Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco. It was read on September 18, 2026 and the item was not among the 271 products on it, 17 days after the September 1 launch.

It is worth being precise about what that does and does not establish. The same menu read still listed Taco Bell's standing dessert range — Cinnabon Delights and the Caramel Apple Empanada — and the items that arrived the day before, so the dessert section was working and populated. An absence there is meaningful. But Taco Bell has published nothing announcing an end, has not said the item sold through, and individual restaurants can carry stock after a national listing comes down. This page therefore records the run as expired rather than calling it discontinued, because the company has stated nothing either way.

No end date was ever announced. Taco Bell's announcement used "for a limited time" and "while supplies last" throughout and never named a last day, so there was never a date to count down to — the run ended when the stock or the promotion did.

One detail is easy to mistake for an end date: on September 8 Taco Bell ran a Tuesday Drop sweepstakes offering Rewards members the chance to win one of 100 coolers packed with three of the ice cream tacos, and the announcement calls it "one final chance" and "one last chance" to get them that way. That phrasing is about the sweepstakes, not about the item leaving menus.

This is the second Taco Bell and Salt & Straw collaboration. Taco Bell says last year's Tacolate sold out on its launch weekend and drew lines at Salt & Straw scoop shops, and that the response is what led to a second one.

The difference this time is where it is sold. Taco Bell's announcement frames the Tacolate as a Salt & Straw shop item and says the Churro Ice Cream Taco is going into Taco Bell restaurants — the company calls it the first time an ice cream taco from the partnership has reached its own restaurants nationwide. Taco Bell also notes the original Cinnamon Ancho Tacolate remains available year-round at Salt & Straw shops and for nationwide shipping from Salt & Straw's website.
