What was announced
On August 3 Starbucks announced that its fall menu would arrive on August 25, with the Pumpkin Spice Latte returning alongside an expanded pumpkin range, three returning pecan drinks, two new banana bread drinks and a new chai called Chaider. The announcement also covered three food items and a merchandise collection.
Why it matters
The fall menu date is the most searched recurring event in American coffee retail, and Starbucks moving it earlier each year has become its own story. What makes this year's list worth reading closely is the split between the seasonal items and the two banana drinks, which Starbucks says are staying on the menu after the season ends.
The pumpkin lineup
Three pumpkin drinks are new this year. Starbucks lists the Iced Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso, the Pumpkin Spice Chai and the Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha, which puts pumpkin cream on top of three of the drink formats the chain has been expanding fastest.
Four pumpkin drinks return: the Pumpkin Spice Latte itself, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai and the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino.
Pecan comes back on the same date
Starbucks says the Pecan Cortado, Iced Pecan Crunch Latte and Pecan Crunch Latte all return on August 25, the same day as the pumpkin drinks. The company describes the flavour as nutty with brown-buttery notes and baking spices.
Two banana drinks that outlast the season
The Iced Banana Bread Latte and Iced Banana Bread Chai are new, and they are the one part of this announcement that is not seasonal. Starbucks says both will be available beyond the fall season, so they are joining the menu rather than visiting it.
The company frames this as following a wider shift, saying banana flavours are turning up across the category.
The food, including a 20g protein pocket
The new Chicken Bacon Protein Pocket is toasted whole wheat lavash flatbread with chicken, bacon and a garlic herb cheese spread, and Starbucks puts it at 20 grams of protein. The new Hedgehog Cake Pop is vanilla cake with buttercream, dipped in chocolatey icing. The Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin returns.
What Starbucks has not said
No prices appear in the announcement, so any figure circulating for these drinks is not coming from Starbucks.
There is also no end date. Seasonal menus usually run until the winter lineup replaces them, but the company has not committed to a date, and this page will be updated if it does.
