What’s coming back
Boorito, Chipotle's Halloween promotion, returns on October 31, 2026 at participating U.S. restaurants. Chipotle Rewards members who appear in costume from 3 p.m. local time through closing and scan their Rewards card at the point of sale can buy one entree for $6. Chipotle describes Boorito as a tradition fans have taken part in for more than 25 years, and as a "Chipotday" — the brand's term for the food holidays it marks through the year.
When it was last around
Boorito has run annually since 2000, when Chipotle says it began as a burrito-themed costume contest. By Chipotle's own timeline it went fully digital in 2020 with virtual trick-or-treating for BOGO codes, moved into the metaverse in 2021, added late-night hours in select college towns in 2023, and introduced meme-inspired costumes in 2024. The 2025 edition, marking Boorito's 25th anniversary, carried the same $6 costumed-Rewards-member entree from 3 p.m. to close on October 31, and added a TikTok Boorito Costume Contest running October 27 to November 2 with a VIP Card worth over $500 as the prize, plus a month-long Chip-or-Treat offer programme for Rewards members. Neither the contest nor Chip-or-Treat appears in the 2026 announcement.
How long: One evening: October 31, 2026, from 3 p.m. local time through restaurant closing — Chipotle's $0 delivery fee offer runs separately on November 1, 2026
Why people care
Boorito is one of the few fast-food Halloween promotions old enough to be a habit, and the $6 price has held year over year. The practical reason to read the terms rather than the headline is that four conditions decide whether it works on the night: you need a Rewards account, you need to be there after 3 p.m., you have to order at the counter rather than in the app, and as of this year a quesadilla will not qualify.
What Chipotle actually announced
Chipotle announced Boorito 2026 on October 20 from Newport Beach, California. The company's framing is that "some Halloween traditions are worth keeping", and it calls Boorito a "Chipotday" — its own term for the food holidays and cultural moments it marks through the year.
The mechanics are the same four steps Chipotle has used for several years: wear a costume, visit a Chipotle after 3 p.m. local time on Halloween, scan your Chipotle Rewards member card at checkout, and pay $6 for an entree.
Stephanie Perdue, Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing, said in the release: "We love that Chipotle has become part of so many fans' Halloween traditions. The passion around Boorito inspires us to find new ways to celebrate and surprise our fans year after year."
Chipotle says the offer runs at participating U.S. locations. It does not publish a list of which restaurants are participating, so the only way to confirm a specific location is to check that restaurant directly.
The restrictions, which is where this offer actually lives
Most coverage of Boorito stops at "$6 entree on Halloween". Chipotle's own footnote is where the conditions are, and several of them will decide whether a given reader can use it at all.
It is a Rewards offer. Chipotle's terms say a member "can receive one (1) entree item for US$6 when appearing in costume, as determined by restaurant, and scanning for Rewards at point of sale at participating U.S. locations". Without a Rewards scan at the till, there is no discount — and the costume judgement is explicitly left to the restaurant.
It is in-restaurant only. The terms state it is "redeemable in-restaurant only; not valid for quesadilla, kids meals, catering, mobile, online or delivery orders". So the app does not work for this, and neither does pickup ordered ahead.
It starts at 3 p.m. The offer is "valid only on October 31, 2026 after 3:00 p.m. local time through restaurant closing", so a lunchtime visit in costume does not qualify.
It is one item per person, and add-ons are not included. Chipotle limits it to "one discounted item per costumed guest", says redemption "is subject to availability", and charges extra for guacamole (except on veggie entrees), queso, extra meat or other modifiers. Taxes, gratuities and sides are the guest's responsibility. Purchased entrees still earn Rewards points, but the promotion cannot otherwise be combined with other coupons or offers.
What is different from Boorito 2025
The headline number has not moved: the 2025 release also offered Chipotle Rewards members a $6 entree for appearing in costume from 3 p.m. to close on October 31. Three things around it have changed, on the evidence of the two releases side by side.
The costume contest is gone. For Boorito's 25th anniversary in 2025, Chipotle ran a Boorito Costume Contest on TikTok from October 27 to November 2, with a VIP Card worth over $500 in free Chipotle as the prize. The 2026 release announces no contest and no prize of any kind.
Chip-or-Treat is not in this year's release either. In 2025 Chipotle ran a month-long programme giving Rewards members weekly offers such as free guacamole, free chips, double protein and extra Rewards points. The 2026 announcement does not mention it.
Quesadillas are now named as excluded. The 2025 footnote excluded kids meals, catering and third-party platforms; the 2026 footnote excludes "quesadilla, kids meals, catering, mobile, online or delivery orders". Quesadillas appearing by name is new wording this year, and it matters because a Chipotle quesadilla is a plausible thing to try to order at $6.
What Chipotle has added instead is a next-day offer: $0 delivery fees on November 1, 2026.
The November 1 delivery offer, and its conditions
Chipotle's release says it "has November 1 covered with $0 delivery fees on digital orders". The conditions are in the second footnote.
It is valid only on November 1, 2026, only through the Chipotle website or the Chipotle app, and explicitly not on third-party delivery platforms. The minimum order is $10 before tax and fees, and maximum item counts apply. It does not cover catering or Burritos by the Box orders.
Chipotle also notes that higher menu prices are charged for delivery and that additional service and other fees are applied at checkout — except in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Virginia. So "$0 delivery fees" removes one fee rather than making delivery cost the same as walking in. Chipotle reserves the right to modify or end the offer at any time.
Boorito's own timeline, as Chipotle tells it
Chipotle says fans have dressed up for Boorito for more than 25 years, and the release includes the company's own list of milestones.
It began in 2000 as a burrito-themed costume contest. In 2020 it went fully digital for the first time, inviting fans to virtually trick-or-treat for BOGO codes. In 2021 it ran a virtual Chipotle restaurant in the metaverse. In 2023 it added late-night hours in select college towns. In 2024 Chipotle introduced meme-inspired costumes.
The entry Chipotle lists for 2026 is the return of its $6 margaritas in select cities in the run-up to Boorito — the Summon the Spirits tour, whose last stop is New Orleans on October 30 and 31, overlapping Boorito itself.
Common questions
- What time does Boorito 2026 start?
- 3 p.m. local time on October 31, 2026, running through restaurant closing. Chipotle's terms say the offer is valid only after 3:00 p.m. local time, so a visit earlier in the day does not qualify.
- Do you need a Chipotle Rewards account for Boorito?
- Yes. Chipotle's terms require a Rewards member to scan for Rewards at the point of sale, so the discount is not available without one.
- Can you get Boorito on delivery or through the app?
- No. Chipotle states the $6 entree is redeemable in-restaurant only and is not valid for mobile, online or delivery orders. Separately, Chipotle is offering $0 delivery fees on digital orders on November 1, 2026.
- Does a quesadilla count for the $6 Boorito offer?
- No. Chipotle's 2026 fine print lists quesadilla among the excluded items, along with kids meals and catering.
- Is there a Boorito costume contest in 2026?
- Chipotle's 2026 announcement does not include one. The TikTok Boorito Costume Contest and the VIP Card prize were part of the 2025 promotion for Boorito's 25th anniversary.
- How much does Boorito cost?
- $6 for one entree, which is the price Chipotle states in its own release. Guacamole on non-veggie entrees, queso, extra meat and other modifiers cost extra, and taxes, gratuities and sides are not included.
- Does the $6 entree still earn Rewards points?
- Yes. Chipotle's terms say purchased entrees are eligible for Chipotle Rewards points, though the promotion may not otherwise be combined with other coupons, promotions or special offers.
