What it is

Annie's SUPER! Mac Dill Pickle Mac & Cheese is a boxed macaroni and cheese in the brand's higher-protein SUPER! Mac line, flavoured with dill. General Mills states 14 grams of protein and 5 grams of fibre per serving. It is sold online only, through Target, Amazon and Walmart, and Annie's lists it as a limited-time flavour. Announced alongside it is a second, separate product — Annie's Macaroni & Grilled Cheese Mac & Cheese, which Annie's describes as real American cheese with notes of browned butter, currently at Target with a wider national rollout stated for later in 2026.

Why it’s getting attention

Dill pickle has moved from a sandwich garnish to a flavour manufacturers build products around, and Annie's is stacking it on top of the other current shelf trend by putting it in a higher-protein box. The more useful fact for a shopper, though, is the distribution: one flavour is online-only and the other is at a single chain, so "is it out yet" has two different answers depending on which box you mean.

What was announced, and where each one is actually sold

General Mills announced the two flavours on September 1, 2026, but they are not equally easy to find, and that is the part worth writing down.

Annie's SUPER! Mac Dill Pickle Mac & Cheese is available exclusively online at Target, Amazon and Walmart nationwide, beginning August 24. It is not in stores. Annie's own SUPER! Mac page states that the Dill Pickle version is available for a limited time.

Annie's Macaroni & Grilled Cheese Mac & Cheese is the opposite: it is on shelves, but only at Target, and General Mills says it will be available at retailers nationwide later this year. No date was given for that wider rollout. FoodBev Media reported the same split in its trade coverage.

Re-checked on September 21, 2026. Annie's own SUPER! Mac page still lists the Dill Pickle flavour as available for a limited time without naming a last day, General Mills has published nothing further, and the Macaroni & Grilled Cheese rollout beyond Target is still described only as coming later in 2026. No end date has been announced for either flavour.

Why a pickle mac, and what Annie's claims for it

The Dill Pickle box is doing two things at once: a flavour trend and a nutrition claim.

General Mills states the Dill Pickle variety carries 14 grams of protein and 5 grams of fibre per serving, and Ben Myers, Business Unit Director for Annie's, is quoted saying it pairs "one of today's boldest flavour trends with nearly double the protein and fibre of our regular Mac and Cheeses." Annie's SUPER! Mac line page separately describes the line as having 15 grams of protein, so the per-serving figure to go by for this specific box is the 14 grams in the announcement.

The Macaroni & Grilled Cheese flavour is the nostalgic half of the pair. Annie's describes it as real American cheese with notes of browned butter, meant to stand in for a toasted grilled cheese sandwich.

What independent reviewers reported

Nothing on this site has been tasted, so the only sensory account here is someone else's, named.

Tasting Table reviewed both boxes, with the products supplied by the manufacturer. The reviewer wrote that the dill in the Dill Pickle box was "very, very apparent" and became "one-note," and said it did not read as an actual dill pickle for want of tanginess or brininess. On the Macaroni & Grilled Cheese, the same reviewer wrote that they were not picking up the browned-butter notes Annie's describes on the box, and rated it closer to a standard boxed mac.

That is one reviewer's account of one cook of each box, and it is included because it is the only independent testing published so far — not because it settles anything.

No price has been published

Neither General Mills' announcement nor Annie's product pages state a price for either flavour. Retailer listings carry their own prices, which change and vary by seller, and this site does not print a price the company has not published.

If Annie's publishes one, it will be added here.
